I believe one of the problems of public education is there are no balances offered for students beyond the classroom to keep school interesting. P.E. is one way to introduce team work in a creative way. I'm a baby boomer. We had gym classes, dance classes, volleyball, dodge ball, gymnastics. We were in shape and didn't know it. These were the unorganized activities. They are talking about taking some of the organized sports away. We need physical and creative activities to keep our children engaged.
Dear Oprah, I know that I am only one of many who is asking for help. It is for the kids at Eisenhower High school in Chicago. As you know music programs in most schools have been cut. This school has a man who has put his heart and soul into trying to help these kids to learn and love music. Sadly there is no funding for musical intruments and not enough of them at that. These kids are mostly from low income homes and wouldn't have money for music lessons anyhow. The program has grown rapidly and hopefully will help the students to stay in school and out of trouble. My friiends and I are planning to raise some funds also. thans
Children do not know how to decide what is right or wrong for his or her health. It is up to the parents and teachers to guide them and make the important choices for them. Making the important and appropriate choices for them at a young age should help them apply the same principles when making decisons in their future.

i do not believe that p.e. should be a requirement, because an individual should have an option to such.
